Inaugural Historical 4th Avenue Walking Tour
Shoppers who wish to take a historic walking tour of Fourth Avenue Saturday are invited to warm up first with hot cider as they gather at Lizzabeth A’s, 339 NE 4th. The store will be the starting point for the 1 p.m. tour of the downtown core, where buildings will be peeled back to reveal an early version of Camas through sepia photos and stories of the first merchants.
The tour of the commercial blocks will get underway at 1 p.m., led by Barbara Baldus who volunteered to develop the project for the Downtown Camas Association. After about an hour, the tour will wind up at Camas Antiques, 305 NE 4th, where Rene Carroll will be signing her newly published history, Legendary Locals.
The one-hour tour is free and open to the public. Those wishing to participate should reserve a space by firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line “Heritage Tour Dec. 21.” More historic walks are planned in the coming months.
After the book signing, walking tour participants are also invited to a open house at Camas Art Gallery to celebrate the unveiling of the first mural of the Camas Mural Project on that day.
